June 19, 2017

Name: Ya'Landeria Young
Program: ESG Escambia County RRH (Rapid Re-Housing)
Services: Rental Deposit Assistance, Electric Service Connection, Electric Service Payment Assistance, Money Management,  Homeless Motel Vouchers,

Mother and son off the street.

Thankfully we were able to quickly re-house Miss Ya'Landeria and her son.

Rapid re-housing is an intervention designed to help individuals and families quickly exit homelessness and return to permanent housing.

However, it does not magically happen.

First we used funding from the State Challenge Grant funding to place her in a motel using vouchers awarded to Loaves and Fishes. She also received clothing, meals and case management from Loaves and Fishes.

Once a low-affordable place was located ECOH Housing Director Dianna Moore inspected the home. Then Rent and Utility Deposit was paid for using the ESG Escambia County funding. She also completed a money management course.

The cost of doing nothing is very expensive: Central Florida Commission on Homelessness released a new study showing that, when accounting for a variety of public expenses, Florida residents pay $31,065 per chronically homeless person every year they live on the streets.
